Bauchi Health Care Delivery: Participants Advocate Engagement of External Bodies Towards Integrated Supportive Supervision

Participants at a town hall meeting in Bauchi have advocated engagement of external body towards integrated supportive supervision to help Primary Healthcare Development Board to ensure quality health care service delivery from the grassroot levels.
They also called for the engagement of the Private Sectors, Civil Society Organizations and the Media to ensure sustenance of the Integrated Supportive Supervision ISS project in the state.
The town hall meeting organized by Bauchi State Network of Civil Society Organizations BASNEC in collaboration with Health System Strengthening HSS, drew participants from the relevant ministries and agencies, CSOs, WDC, Traditional Rulers among others.
In a welcome address, the Bauchi State Executive Chairman, Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr Rilwanu Muhammad represented by the Director Monitoring and Evaluation, Adamu Musa Bara said already they have technical team of experts for the supervision of primary health care facilities.
On his part, a Director from the Ministry of Health, Ibrahim Muhammad said they are prepared to engage the private sector, Civil Society Organizations and the Media to ensure the success of the Integrated Supportive Supervision project across the state.
The Chairman, Bauchi State Network of Civil Society Organizations BASNEC, Mr Jinjiri Garba said they have been championing the course for the creation of a department within the line Ministry for the Private Sectors engagement into supervision of primary health care facilities.
Speaking on the need for ISS support from the private sector, Shuaibu Ali Kobi said the state has negative indicators on infants mortality and morbidity among other health related issues hence the need to engage the private sector to assist in the supervision.
Shuaibu Ali Kobi who is also the BASNEC HSS Lead Programme Manager, stressed the need for the provision of quality health care, improve supply of drugs and consumables to primary health care services as well as budgetary allocation and release for the sector.
In their separate remarks, the HSS Cluster Programme Officers, Asmau Yahaya and Zainab Muhammad Hassan assured of their readiness to include all the issues the participants arrived at during the meeting into the action plan of the project.
The meeting had in attendance representatives from Ministry of Health, Primary Healthcare Development Board, traditional leaders, CSOs, WDC, among others as well as the media.
