Bauchi Govt To Promote Cultural Heritage

The Bauchi State Government says it is engaging Secondary School Students in Creative Arts and Craftsmanship towards preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage and innovative spirit of communities for national unity and integration.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Education, Dr Jamila Dahiru stated while declaring open the first ever Inter-Secondary Schools Fabric Competition with the theme: “Unity in Diversity.
Unity in Diversity” reflects the very essence of our fabric competition. It symbolizes how different patterns, colors, and textures, much like our varied cultures and traditions, can blend harmoniously to produce stunning works of art. This theme encourages us to celebrate our differences while recognizing the strength and beauty that come from our collective efforts.”

She appreciated all the participating schools, judges, and other stakeholders for their hard work, dedication, passion and innovative skills towards the realisation of every art piece created in the competition.
While emphasising the importance of preserving and promoting cultural arts, the Commissioner encouraged all education stakeholders to acquaint themselves with the history and culture of diverse ethnic nationalities through stories, traditions, and the works of art.
Earlier, the Director School Services in the ministry, Hajiya Halima Musa said the event organised in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art was aimed at discovering and building arts and craftsmanship talents among students in schools across the state.
The Curator National Gallery of Arts Bauchi, Attahiru Musa who emphasised the need for stakeholders to support such initiatives, noted that the move would lead to the development of the arts and craft industry by building young talents.
A Student from Government Girls College Bauchi, Grace Dantala who appreciated the ministry of education for the initiative, urged government to support children to realise their dreams through the provision of quality and affordable education.
The schools that emerged first in the four categories of the competition are Government Day Technical College Bauchi in Cap Embroidery, Hally Bees Academy Bauchi in Men’s Dress, Government Day Technical College Tafawa Balewa Women’s Wrapper, and Government Day Secondary School Kofar Wambai Embroidery Design.
