Bauchi Govt Launches Livestock Vaccination

The Bauchi State Government has launched a livestock vaccination campaign aimed at immunizing over 1.5 million animals across all twenty local government areas of the state.
This initiative includes the acquisition of more than 10,000 doses of rabies vaccines, motivated by recent incidents of animal bites involving dogs and other species in various regions of the state.

The primary goal of the vaccination campaign is to foster a healthy livestock population and promote livestock farming as a means of enhancing the state’s economy.
During the inauguration of the 2025 Annual Livestock Vaccination Campaign in Itas Gadau Local Government Area, Governor Bala Mohammed highlighted Bauchi’s prominence as a leading state in livestock population, attributing this growth to the influx of Fulani cattle breeders from conflict-affected regions across Nigeria.

In alignment with the Federal Government’s policy, the governor announced the establishment of a State Ministry of Livestock Development to improve livestock management and ensure animal welfare.
Additionally, he revealed plans to construct 100 dams along cattle routes to facilitate access to water and promote harmonious relations between farmers and herders.
At the event, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf Tilde, and the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Muhammad Husaini Buzaye, praised the governor for this initiative.
They encouraged livestock owners to actively participate in the campaign by vaccinating their animals.
The leaders also advocated for the inclusion of animal feeds distribution programs and ongoing livestock vaccination initiatives as part of the state government’s agricultural development strategy.
