Bauchi Gov Vows to Enhance Girls Education, Says it’s a key for development

In his administration’s continued Commitment to promoting Girls Education, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has described girls education as key to any responsible government.
Governor Bala Mohammed made this known while speaking at the Traditional and Religious Leaders’ Conference on Improving Girls’ Education in the North-East subregion organized by the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment of AGILE Project in collaboration with the World Bank, Federal Ministry of Education, and Bauchi State Government, Thursday at Government House Bauchi.
He highlighted the achievements of his administration in promoting girls education and appreciated the critical role of traditional and religious leaders in promoting and advancement of school enrollment, retention, and completion, particularly among girls.
The National Coordinator of AGILE Project Amina Buba Haruna praised the support of the state government towards successful implementation of the project in the state and called for the sustenance of the efforts.
Also Speaking, the representative of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa appreciated the state Government proactive measures in addressing challenges in girls education noting that the gesture is in line with the Federal Government’s education development initiative.
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, emphasized the need for collective action by traditional rulers, religious figures, and community members to ensure the success of education programmes for girls.
The Bauchi State Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Dr Jamila Dahiru, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ali Babayo maintain the need for collective efforts towards consolidation on the success.
