Bauchi Gov Sacks Sa’ad Zungur University Bursar, Sets Up Audit Committee

The Bauchi State Government has announced the establishment of an audit committee to investigate financial management at the Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Gadau, with particular attention to student fees and internally generated revenue.
In an immediate move, the government has also dismissed the university’s Acting Bursar, Ayuba Mohammed Gital, over alleged procedural irregularities.
Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed these measures while receiving the report of the Visitation Panel tasked with resolving prolonged industrial disputes at the institution.
The governor acknowledged that while the state government had previously maintained a non-interference stance regarding the university’s finances, recent developments necessitated decisive action to enforce transparency and accountability.
He praised the panel for its comprehensive findings and assured that the report would be presented to the State Executive Council for review and implementation.
Presenting the report, Panel Chairperson, Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi stated that the committee had consulted key stakeholders, reviewed multiple submissions, and conducted facility inspections across SAZU’s three campuses.
Professor Gambo thanked the government for the opportunity to serve and stressed the need for prompt implementation of the recommendations to stabilize and enhance the university’s operations.
