Bauchi Gov Kicks Off ₦7.8 Billion State Assembly Renovation, Upgrade Project

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Tuesday kicked off the renovation, upgrade and Complete remodeling of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Project Worth N7.8 billion in line with his “My Bauchi Project Agenda”.
The project according to him includes the construction of a new Assembly Service Commission building, renovation of the main legislative chamber, refurbishment of the dilapidated administrative block, and renovation of the committee buildings, among other components.
While inaugurating the project at the Assembly premises, Governor Bala Mohammed informed that the initiative is aimed at providing a more conducive environment for legislative activities in line with his administration’s urban renewal policy.
The Governor expressed delight with the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, stressing that the synergy has contributed to the successful execution of people-oriented projects across the state.
He confirmed that alternative office accommodation has been prepared to ensure uninterrupted legislative functions during the remodeling process.
Speaking at the occasion, the Speaker Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, described the project as timely and long overdue, noting that the Assembly complex has not undergone any major renovation since its construction nearly two decades ago.
In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule and the Chairman of the State Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Bappa Haruna Disina, commended the Governor for extending his administration’s goodwill to the legislative arm of government.
Architect Ruben Okoye who spoke on behalf of the contracting firm, Commended Governor Bala Mohammed for the confidence repose in them and assured that the project will be delivered within twelve months and in full compliance with the contract specification.
