Bauchi Gov hosts 2024 NNL AGM, Commend Board for promoting grassroots football

In his administration’s determination to revive sporting activities in the state, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Saturday hosted Board of the Nigeria National League (NNL) in Bauchi, where he urged the NNL leadership not to relent in their sportsmanship manner of advancing and promoting fairness, transparency and inclusiveness in its operations to encourage the growth of football at the grassroots.
Governor Bala Mohammed made the appeal as he declared open, the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria National League in Bauchi held at the Executive Nest, Bauchi.
Bala Mohammed who was represented by his Deputy Auwal Mohammed Jatau, Commended the leadership of the Management Board of NNL for choosing Bauchi State as venue for its all important Annual Meeting to discuss on the development of grassroots football.
He said it is important to give a level playing field to all participating clubs, regardless of their size or resources as such will not only foster healthy competition, but also strengthen the credibility of the League.
While assuring that a well-structured and fair football league system can serve as a tool for unity, social integration, and youth empowerment, he emphasized the need for the Nigeria National League to remain steadfast in upholding the values of integrity and sportsmanship in all its operations.
The Bauchi State sports loving Governor, while acknowledging the vital role the Nigeria National League is playing towards development of football in the country, also observed that, through nurturing young talents and providing a competitive platform for clubs across the country, the League has contributed significantly towards building the future of Nigerian football.
According to him, “Today’s historic event is not only a testament to the importance of the Nigerian National League in nurturing talents and promoting football at the grassroots level, but to showcase it unifying power. We are proud to host such an important meeting that brings together key drivers of the second-tier league, which has over the years, contributed immensely to the development of Nigerian football.
“The NNL has been a pillar of grassroots football, fostering local talents and ensuring that the spirit of competition remains vibrant across all regions. I am confident that the deliberations and resolutions of the 2024 NNL Annual General Meeting will pave way for a brighter and more successful Nigerian National League”.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Nigeria National League, Mr George Aluo, informed that the board is committed to providing a level playing ground for all the teams, requesting stakeholders to embrace the ongoing reforms with an open mind to achieve the desired objectives.
Mr. Aluo commented Bauchi state government under the good sportsmanship of Governor Bala Mohammed for accepting to host the AGM, which confirmed his true desire to revive sporting activities and restructure all sporting facilities in the state in the interest of youth purposeful engagement for economic development.
