Bauçhi Gov flags off 2026 dry Season farming, says Bauchi is a key player in Nigeria’s agriculture value chain

In his administration’s unwavering commitment and determination to repositioned agriculture for sustainable food Security and economic development, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Monday officially launched the 2026 Dry Season Farming Programme in Sarma, Akuyam district in Misau Local Government Area.

The State Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. Iliyasu Gital, while making his opening remarks at the event, assured farmers of the timely distribution of farm inputs, emphasizing government’s readiness to ensure a smooth and productive dry season farming cycle.
Governor Bala Mohammed in his speech, outlined bold vision to transform the agricultural sector through the launch of a comprehensive Agricultural Policy Roadmap designed to revamp the entire value chain, from production to processing and marketing.
He noted that the initiative is strategically positioned to strengthen food security, create jobs, and stimulate rural development.
He announced the production and sale of fertilizers and other agricultural inputs at subsidized rates to ease the burden on farmers and boost productivity.
Reiterating his administration’s vision to make Bauchi State a fertilizer production hub, he described Bauchi state as a key player in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
While addressing stakeholders, Governor Bala Mohammed cautioned traditional leaders against the indiscriminate allocation of grazing and agricultural reserve lands, stressing the need to preserve designated areas to support long-term agricultural expansion and sustainability.
The launch marks another significant milestone in the administration’s drive to modernize agriculture, empower farmers, and secure a prosperous future for Bauchi State.
