Bauchi Gov Approves Construction of Modern NUJ Secretariat

The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has approved the total upgrading of the State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, situated along Ahmadu Bello Way in Bauchi, the state capital.

According to a statement issued by the NUJ Secretary Isah Garba Gadau, the approved contract as contained in the approval letter made available to the State Council includes renovation and modernization of the Secretariat and the Construction of a state-of-the-art conference Hall.
Governor Bala Mohammed had also graciously approved for the installation of a Solar Power supply to cushion the hardship being experienced by the practicing Journalists operating in the Secretariat.
NUJ stated that the approval came at a time when all the structures within the NUJ Secretariat were crying for any form of intervention as they reached a very serious level of dilapidation.
The union expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed, for fulfilling his promise to upgrade the NUJ Press Centre and commend his dedication to Press welfare, support and development which inspires journalists in Bauchi State.
“While believing that the gesture will go along way in the general improvement of the working environment, we equally pledge to use the facility judiciously just as we will continue to support the state government towards providing development programs to the citizens of the State through adhering to the provision of the NUJ code of ethics”.
