BASG Kicks off distribution of free fertilizers to farmers

The fertilizer distribution Committee recently constituted by the Bauchi State Government under chairmanship of the Emir of Jama’are, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Wabi, has announced the commencement of the distribution of the commodity to farmers across the State.
The Committee Chairman confirmed that 42,000 bags of fertilizers donated to Bauch State government by the federal government through Ministry of Agriculture is being distributed to farmers across the state, free of charge as directed by the state government in compliance with the above order.
While commending the federal government for the gesture and appreciating the state government under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed for the confidence reposed in the Committee, Wabi, said the distribution of the fertilizers is a significant step towards achieving agricultural self-sufficiency in Bauchi State.
He unfolded that the committee has employed effective modalities to ensure that the fertilizers reach the intended beneficiaries to achieve the desired goal, assuring that the distribution process would be closely supervised to prevent irregularities.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Professor Simon Madugu Yalams, said the primary objective of the initiative is to boost food security in the state.
He emphasized that the government’s goal is to support farmers in increasing their productivity, thereby enhancing food availability and reducing poverty.
He explained that by providing essential inputs to farmers, the government is empowering them to improve crop yields and quality, leading to increased food production and economic growth.
“This initiative is a testament to the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to agricultural development and food security. By supporting farmers with critical inputs like fertilizer, the government is investing in the state’s future and the well-being of its citizens”. Yalams said.
“As the distribution exercise progresses, farmers in Bauchi State are expected to benefit significantly, leading to improved food production and economic empowerment.
“The government’s efforts to boost agriculture and food security are commendable, and this initiative is a step in the right direction towards achieving sustainable development in the state”.
“The fertilizer distribution exercise is also expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy.
“By increasing food production, the government is reducing the reliance on imported food items, thereby conserving foreign exchange and boosting local economic activity”, he explained.
