ASUP appeals to Gov Kefas to implement 25/35% salary increase for Taraba Poly staff

The Taraba state chapter of the Academic staff union of Polytechnics, ASUP, at the weekend appealed to Taraba state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas to implement the 25/35% salary increase for staff of Taraba state Polytechnic Suntai.

The newly elected chairman of ASUP, Dr Bala Sule while speaking to journalists at the polytechnic campus during Oath taking in Jalingo, hinted that government is owing staff of the polytechnic outstanding salary arrears.
“As ASUP Chairman, I will do my best to navigate and get the attention of governor Kefas to appeal to him to implement our 25/35% salary increase.
“And even our outstanding salary arrears will be table before him, we will let him know that putting staff in financial distress would not be healthy for members ” he said.
He stressed that the institution under his leadership will not witness any industrial strike action even when government failed to address their demands.
“Under my watch, there will be no strike action of any form, even if government failed to address our demands, we will pursue with diplomacy to ensure that government attends to us ” added.
He noted that the new leadership of ASUP in the institution would prioritize the welfare of all staff.
He added that in a no distant time, he will have a dialogue with the National and Zonal body of ASUP to visit Taraba state to see the governor to pressure him to implement the 25/35% salary increase for staff.
