As Deadline Nears, No Petition Filed At Tribunal On Ganye Bye-election

With just four days remaining for the legal deadline, the Election Petitions Tribunal for the recent Ganye Constituency bye-election in Adamawa State is yet to received a single petition challenging the outcome, signalling a likely broad acceptance of the results.
The tribunal was instituted by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem, following the July 16, 2025, bye-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the Secretary of the Tribunal, Nyior Henry Sekulla, Esq., the secretariat, which is operating from the Chief Judge’s Court at the New High Court Complex, in Yola has not received any filings from aggrieved candidates or political parties.
The election, which was narrowly won by the All Progressives Congress (APC), saw the party secure 15,923 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which garnered 15,794 votes.
The Electoral Act 2022 provides a 21-day window for any dissatisfied candidate or party to file a petition challenging the declared results.
The impending closure of this window without any legal challenge indicates that the victory of the APC candidate will likely stand uncontested.
