Allege Resignation of 30 PhD Holders from Sa’adu Zungur University Malicious, Mockery, Misleading, Unjust – VC

The management of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) in Bauchi State under the leadership of Professor Fatimah Tahir, has described the recent publication going round the public that 30 PhD holders have resigned from the university due to poor salary, as malicious, mockery, misleading and unjust.

Professor Fatimah Tahir made this public in a Press release on Sunday signed and made available to journalists in Bauchi by the Public Relations officer of the University, Auwal Hassan.

 

The statement clarified that the University authority has not received any resignation letter from PhD staff citing poor salary, saying only six PhD holders that left based on personal reasons.

While the University dismissed 6
persons, based on abscondment or disciplinary grounds, 2 each went on
Sabbatical Leave and leave of Absence respectively.

 

The statement revealed that SAZU has a total number of 397 academic staff, with 18 Professors, 9 Readers, 57 Senior Lectures, 113 lectures 1, 47 Lectures 11, 76 Assistant Lecturers and 77 Graduate Assistants.

 

According to the release, ” the University Authority has consistently prioritized staff welfare and development, implementing initiatives to enhance working conditions, including timely salary payment and financial benefits, Numerous academic staff have been enjoying their promotions since December 2022 to date with full payment of promotion arrears”.

The University appreciated the Bauchi State Government under the good watchful eyes of Governor Bala Mohammed for his total commitment towards improving the university’s physical infrastructure, including the construction of access roads, staff quarters and financial support.

It added that requests for perimeter fencing and additional hostel blocks are receiving positive consideration.

 

The university said, ” it is important to note that it has implemented payment of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) and other benefits, while staff are covered by the state government’s retirement and death benefit policy”.

 

“We urge the public to disregard the Malicious and fabricated misleading reports intended by enemies of progress to tarnish the good name and rapid development of the University under Prof. Fatima Tahir with 100 percent support from Bauchi state government. And therefore call for whoever is interested to verify information through appropriate channels”.
