Aku Uka Mourns Death Of Former President Buhari

By Lynn Adda

The Aku Uka, Dr Ishaku Adda Ali, Matakhitswen II has send his heart felt sympathy and condolences over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari whose sad event occurred in London last Sunday.

The message of the Aku is contained in a Press Release this Wednesday signed by his SA Media, Jolly Agbu Masa-Ibi.

“Wukari Traditional Council and the entire Jukun Nation received with deep shock the news of the passing of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who died on Sunday, 13th July, 2025 at the London Clinic, United Kingdom, and was laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday, 15th July, 2025.

“His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari was a towering figure in Nigeria’s history, a man of unmatched integrity, discipline, and unrelenting commitment to national service. His contribution to Nigeria’s unity, peace, security, and development both as a military leader and a democratically elected president, earned him the enduring respect of millions across the country and beyond.

“To the people of Wukari, the late President Buhari was more than a national leader. He was a friend and well-wisher of the Jukun people. He remains the only sitting Head of State who visited Wukari while in office, a visit that left a lasting impression and strengthened the bond between the Presidency and our traditional institution.

“As Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), Wukari benefitted directly from several development projects under his leadership, including the construction and rehabilitation of major roads and streets within the Wukari metropolis—such as Old Bantaje Road, Hospital Road, Adibyewi Road, and Katakpa Street. More recently, during his presidency, he approved the construction of the Ibi Bridge across the River Benue at Ibi, a major infrastructure project within our Community which is currently ongoing and holds great promise for transforming the economic landscape of Southern Taraba and its environs.

The Release said President Buhari was also a strong believer in the role of traditional rulers and maintained a cordial and respectful relationship with royal fathers across the country, including the Aku Uka’s Palace, and acknowledged the place of tradition and culture in building a stable and united Nigeria.

Dr Ishaku Adda Ali, Matakhitswen II

“On behalf of the Wukari Traditional Council, the entire Jukun Nation, and the good people of Wukari, His Majesty, Dr. Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen, the Aku Uka, expresses heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Daura, the Government and People of Katsina State, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and indeed all Nigerians mourning the loss of this elder statesman.

He prayed that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and comforts the family and the nation he served so diligently.
