ADAMAWA SET TO LAUNCH MODEL SCHOOLS IN SEPTEMBER, 2025

In a significant move to revolutionize secondary education, the Adamawa State Government has announced that its new network of Model Schools will commence academic operations in September 2025.
The initiative, spanning all 21 Local Government Areas, includes three flagship Mega-Science Schools located in Madagali, Hong, and Lamurde.
This development is a cornerstone of the educational reform agenda under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
A key feature of the new schools will be a curriculum heavily focused on equipping students with practical entrepreneurial and technical skills.
This shift in educational policy is designed to prepare students for self-reliance and the modern job market.
The Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), Mr. Birsan Penuel, disclosed these plans during an interactive session with Newsmen in Yola
He stated that approximately 1,000 qualified professional teachers would be posted to these institutions to handle both academic subjects and technical skills instruction.
Mr. Penuel outlined an integrated educational structure, revealing that the state’s existing vocational institutions, known as ‘Best-Centres,’ will act as feeder schools to the new model schools, creating a streamlined pathway for students with technical interests.
In a bid to motivate staff, the Executive Secretary announced several incentives such as a “Best Performing Teachers” award scheme to be presented annually and approval of hazard allowances for teachers posted to rural areas.
The recent approval of a ₦70,000 minimum wage for state workers, which he said has significantly boosted teachers’ morale and the ongoing
renovation of hostels in several boarding schools to improve living conditions for students.
Mr. Penuel encouraged educators to reciprocate the government’s gestures through dedication, punctuality, and commitment to their duties.
The launch of these model schools marks a major investment in Adamawa’s future, aiming to raise educational standards and foster a generation of skilled entrepreneurs and innovators.
