Adamawa SDG Inspects Progress of 250-student capacity ICT and CBT Center at College of Nursing Sciences, Yola

The Adamawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to upgrading educational institutions across the state to meet global standards, with the construction of an Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer-Based Test (CBT) center at the College of Nursing Sciences, Yola, serving as a notable example.
The ICT center, which boasts of a 250-student capacity, is part of a broader initiative to modernize education and equip students with globally relevant skills.
During an inspection visit to the project site by the Adamawa State Office of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Anthony Predimsu, emphasized that the facility would streamline pre-qualification requirements and offer students access to modern tools that align with global best practices.
Predimsu, who is also the Chairman of the Adamawa SDG Board, assured that similar upgrades are being pursued in other institutions across the state.
“Education remains a priority for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration. This intervention by the SDG will not only enhance the growth of education in the state but will also provide critical support to the students of this institution,” Mr. Predimsu said.
Acknowledging the contributions of development partners in areas such as education, health, and water resources, Mr. Predimsu urged them to sustain their efforts.
Speaking during the visit, the Focal Person for Adamawa State SDG, Muhammad Alfa Raji, noted that the inspection is to assess the progress of the project and report back to the government for eventual commissioning.
He pointed out that the 250-capacity ICT center is nearing completion, with installation work set to be finalized soon.
“This project will soon be handed over to the institution. It is essential for the college to prioritize the maintenance of the ICT equipment to ensure its durability and effectiveness,” Mr. Raji emphasized.
Deputy Provost of the College, Dr. Relester Takwi, described the intervention as timely, noting that the lack of a functional ICT center has forced the college to rely on external facilities, such as the Federal College of Education, Yola, for conducting CBT examinations.
“With this intervention, the college can now conduct computer-based tests within its premises, which will significantly improve efficiency and convenience for both students and staff,” Dr. Takwi stated.
Dr. Takwi also assured that the institution will ensure proper use and maintenance of the ICT equipment once handed over.
The ICT and CBT center project by the Adamawa State SDG marks a significant milestone in modernizing the education system in the state.
By equipping the College of Nursing Sciences, Yola, with this cutting-edge facility, the initiative aims to enhance academic operations, improve accessibility to digital resources, and set a benchmark for technological integration in education across Adamawa State.
