Adamawa Police Command Foil Suicide Attempt, Arrest Suspect

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 30 years old Abdullahi Muhammed, an indigene of Gashaka local Government Area of Taraba State, for attempting to commit suicide in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.
A Press Statement by the Adamawa State Command’s Public Relations Officer said the suspect, on the 29th of September 2024 climbed a 33kv high tension pole along Yola – Jalingo highway and threatened to kill himself.
In a swift response to the report, the Commissioner of Police deployed operatives of the Command attached to Divisional police Headquarters, Mayo-Belwa to the scene of the incident.
The team rescued the suspect who was later taken into protective custody where he is currently being investigated before charging him to court for attempting to commit suicide.
The Adamawa Police Command says it remains committed to protecting lives and property, including preventing acts of self-harm.
