ADAMAWA NUT HOLDS SOLEMN ASSEMBLY, PRAISES FINTIRI’S LEADERSHIP

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Adamawa State Wing, has gathered for its annual Solemn Assembly, offering prayers for the year 2026 and reflecting on the blessings of the past year 2025.

Addressing the congregation, the State Chairman of the NUT, Comrade Faisal Mohammed Abubakar, explained that the event is an annual ritual being conducted as the National leadership of the Union has already held its own which saw the attendance of all state branches across the nation.

The solemn moment was attended by members of the State Wing Executive Council (SWEC), state leaders, and representatives from the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPS) and Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON).

Prayers were offered for the union’s leadership at the national, state, and branch levels.

Key prayer points included the timely conduct of promotion interviews, the release of promotion letters, and the full implementation of promotions and all approved welfare packages for Nigerian teachers.

The session also sought divine protection for pupils, students, parents, guardians, and the safety of schools.

A major highlight was the prayer for the implementation of the five-year service elongation policy for teachers across all specializations.

Special sermons were delivered by Comrade Danjuma Ahmed (representing the Muslim faith) and Comrade Abednego Denis (representing the Christian faith).

Their messages centered on the virtues of tolerance, patience, and collective respect for leadership to ensure a prosperous union.

The event ran concurrently with the Fifth General Meeting of the Adamawa State Teachers Welfare Scheme.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Comrade Michael Y. Dzarma, presented a summary of benefits paid to subscribers for the year 2025.

The report highlighted that a total of N188,208,980 was disbursed to 1,880 beneficiaries within the year under review.

Looking to the future, the general meeting announced plans to establish a “Teachers Microfinance Bank.” The initiative aims to broaden the scheme’s investment portfolio, provide accessible financial services customized for teachers, and create new avenues for credit and savings tailored to members’ needs.

Other significant investments and projects highlighted include the purchase of a Hummer bus for commercial purposes, the acquisition of a truck for Adamawa NUT Petro Gas Nig. Ltd., and the procurement of fertilizer to boost agricultural productivity among teachers.

In a major show of appreciation, the general meeting expressed its deepest gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the timely payment of teachers’ remuneration and the recent recruitment of additional teachers.

Furthermore, the meeting poured encomium on the State Chairman, Comrade Faisal Mohammed, acknowledging his credible, enterprising, and purposeful leadership, which they noted has positioned the NUT as the best union in Adamawa State.
