ADAMAWA NUT FLAGS- OFF ALLOCATION OF LANDS TO 1,288 TEACHERS IN YOLA-SOUTH

The Adamawa State Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has officially commenced the presentation of land allocation certificates to 1,288 of its members in Yola-South Local Government Area of the state.
The flag-off ceremony, held on Friday, marks a significant milestone in the union’s effort to provide affordable housing for teachers.
The plots, located in two prime areas—Rumde-Mallum in Yola-South and Keseo along the Ngurore road—will form a modern “Teachers Village Yola.”
The village is designed to include essential social amenities such as a market, worship centres, a hospital, a football pitch, and a well-structured layout.
The major road in the lay-out has been named after Comrade Mohammed Faisal while the other roads were named after other Executives for legacy purposes.
Adamawa State NUT Chairman, Comrade Mohammed Faisal Abubakar, who presided over the elaborate ceremony, commended the Yola-South Branch Chairman, Comrade Ahmed Bobboji, and his team for their steadfastness and dedication in bringing the project to fruition.

In a major announcement, Comrade Faisal revealed that the National Secretariat of the NUT will honour Governor Ahmadu Fintiri with an Excellence Award for his transformative reforms in the state’s educational sector.
The award will be presented to the Governor at the Eagle Square in Abuja on October 5th, 2025, as part of activities to mark the World Teachers Day.
The reforms cited include the implementation of a N70,000 minimum wage for teachers and the timely promotion of educators at both primary and secondary levels.
“The National Secretariat of NUT is always happy for the way the welfare of Teachers is being considered in Adamawa state,” Faisal stated.
He further assured teachers of more incentives to come.
Providing details of the project, the Yola-South Branch Chairman, Comrade Ahmed Bobboji, disclosed that while 1,288 teachers subscribed for the land allocation, 700 have already completed full payment through a convenient monthly deduction scheme.
Bobboji expressed gratitude to the land vendor for fulfilling his promise and appealed to the state government and well-meaning individuals for support in the form of cement and other building materials to accelerate the development of the village.
He also thanked the State NUT leadership for its unwavering support for the initiative.
The event was attended by key stakeholders in the education sector, including the Education Secretary for Yola-South and Initiating Principal of a secondary school in the area, all of whom praised the NUT leadership for the initiative.
