ADAMAWA NUT FERTILIZER DELAY: VENDOR, NOT UNION, RESPONSIBLE – Says Chair

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Adamawa State Wing, has clarified that the delay in delivering the remaining trucks of fertilizer lies with the vendor, not the union.

The union has urged affected members to remain patient, assuring them that the consignments are on the way.
State Chairman of the NUT, Comrade Faisal Mohammed, confirmed this development to journalists in Yola while addressing concerns over the non-delivery of the commodity to some local government areas.
The NUT had facilitated the procurement of 23 trucks of fertilizer through a vendor as part of its Welfare Scheme, aiming to support teachers in boosting food security.
So far, only 10 trucks have been delivered and distributed to beneficiaries in selected local governments.
However, the delay in supplying the remaining 11 trucks has sparked frustration among members, especially as the rainy farming season progresses.
Comrade Faisal explained, *”This is our first engagement with the company. We have fulfilled our financial commitment as per the contractual agreement. All we await is the complete delivery, and this delay has been causing me sleepless nights. If the vendor fails to deliver within one week, we will take necessary action.”*
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State ALGON Chairman of the NUT, Comrade Suleiman Umar (sarki Hausawa), has appealed to teachers for calm, assuring them that the leadership is working tirelessly to ensure the remaining consignment is delivered promptly.
