Adamawa NUT: Atiku Bows Out, Faisal Takes Over

Comrade Faisal Mohammed, the Yola- South branch Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT  has emerged as the New State Chairman of the Union during its 12th Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Yola, the Adamawa State Capital.

In a fierce battle that witnessed a convergence of about 185 Delegates cutting across the 21 local government areas of the state, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee,Adamu Ayuba said,Faisal Mohammed pulled 177 Votes defeating his opponent Captain Jidauna , the former Publicity Secretary who got only 8 votes.

Anu sale got 6 votes while Tukur Yakubu got 167 votes for the post of Internal Auditor. Social secretary, Dina Adamu emerged with 169, votes while Lois Madugu got 7.

Deputy Chairman goes to Stephen Ayuba with 177 Votes while Ahmed Hamman got 8.

Adamu Ayuba who commended the Delegates for exhibiting maturity, described the election as free and fair.

Faisal Mohammed in his acceptance speech, pledged to diversify the NUT to an enterprising union where members will always smile home with welfare and improved working conditions.

He thanked NUT stakeholders and members for entrusting in him the onerous responsibility of propelling Adamawa NUT to greeter heights, promising a robust working relationship with the organized Labour and its affiliates.

The immediate past Chairman, Comrade Atiku Buba who came on board as Chairman by providence following the demise of Rodney Nathan sometimes back, bowed out of leadership honourably on 29th November 2024.
