ADAMAWA NLC MOURNS AS FATHER TO IMMEDIATE PAST NATIONAL PRESIDENT GOES HOME

The Adamawa State Council of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Jidayi Filibus Asarya Waba, the father of its immediate past National President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba.

The sad event occurred on Thursday, 8th January 2026, in Yola.
Until his death, the late Wabba was the District Head of Sabongari-Puba in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
A retired military officer, respected community leader, and devout Christian, he was known for his service and leadership.
In a condolence message signed by the State leadership and made available to newsmen in Yola, the Organised Labour described his demise as a “colossal loss” not only to the Wabba family but to the entire Labour movement in Nigeria.

The NLC, while consoling its former President, noted that the fatherly advice and mentorship he provided to Comrade Ayuba Wabba had a significant positive impact on the Labour movement both in Nigeria and internationally.
Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, Chairman of the NLC in Adamawa State, stated: “This is truly a sad moment for the NLC, particularly for us in Adamawa State. Comrade Ayuba is our mentor, and we stand by him in both joy and sorrow. We are deeply saddened by the death of Baba Wabba. May Almighty God console our leader, the immediate past NLC President, his family, the people of Askira/Uba, and the entire Labour movement.”
The late Jidayi Filibus Asarya Waba will be laid to rest on Saturday, 17th January 2026, in his hometown, Sabongari-Puba, Askira/Uba, Borno State.

Comrade Fashe added that all affiliates of the Organised Labour in Adamawa State will pay their last respects on the same date in Askira/Uba.
