ADAMAWA: JAFAR BOUNCES BACK AS LEADER, FUFORE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

By Fidelis Jockthan

In a surprising political reversal, Councillor Hassan Jafar, representing Gurin Ward, has been sworn in as the Leader of Fufore Legislative Council for the second time.

This development followed the voluntary resignation of the former Leader, Babangida Sani of Wuro-Bokki Ward.

Sani had only recently assumed the position last month following the impeachment of Jafar.

During a plenary session, Babangida Sani read his resignation letter before the council members and called on his colleagues to extend their full support to the new leader to strengthen democracy and foster development in Fufore.

In his remarks, Sani expressed his gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, Mrs. Peace Samson Audu, for the opportunity given to all councillors to represent their respective wards.

He also urged the staff of the legislative council to refrain from interfering in political affairs, emphasizing that the local government area can only progress through tolerance and cooperation among its people.

The reinstatement of Jafar concludes a mild political drama that began last month with his ousting.

The situation had caused concern among political stakeholders in the area, who subsequently devised a reconciliatory mechanism to resolve the impasse.

Fufore, the largest local government in Adamawa State, comprises eleven wards and is home to several key political figures.
