Adamawa Gov Meets Newly Appointed Traditional Rulers, Speaks On Effective Leadership

The Adamawa State Governor, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has met with the newly appointed traditional rulers of the Emirates and Chiefdoms recently created by his administration.
According to a Press Release by Domiya Ijafiya, SSA on Digital Communications, the meeting, held at the Government House in Yola, marked the governor’s first official interaction with the monarchs since their unveiling.
Governor Fintiri charged the traditional rulers to lead with integrity, fairness, wisdom, and accountability, urging them to avoid tribal and religious sentiments in their domains.

He emphasized that their primary responsibility is to serve the people diligently and inclusively.
He advised the monarchs to thoroughly study their territories and traditional systems to enhance their understanding and leadership capabilities, cautioning against the abrupt appointment of titleholders, insisting on adherence to established guidelines and thorough security checks to avoid empowering individuals of questionable character.
Rt Hon Fintiri encouraged the monarchs to work closely with district and village heads, ensuring that transparency and accountability remain at the core of their leadership, stressing the need to promptly report suspicious activities or shady characters to appropriate authorities for necessary action.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to their welfare, the Governor highlighted the crucial role of traditional rulers in bridging governance gaps, improving security, and bringing government closer to the grassroots.
The Governor called on the monarchs to leverage their experience and expertise to support the government in delivering good governance.
On environmental matters, the Governor called for the enforcement of regulations banning indiscriminate tree felling for charcoal production, highlighting the environmental hazards caused by deforestation and pointed to his administration’s efforts in planting one million economic trees and promoting alternative energy sources such as charcoal briquettes.
The Governor announced the coronation dates for the new monarchs:
– Fufore: 5th February 2025, 10:00 AM
– Yungur: 6th February 2025, 10:00 AM
– Gombi: 8th February 2025, 10:00 AM
– Maiha: 13th February 2025
– Hong: 14th February 2025
– Madagali: 19th February 2025
– Michika: 20th February 2025
Responding on behalf of the monarchs, the Ptil of Madagali, Dr. Ali Danburam, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his vision and courage in creating the new Emirates and Chiefdoms.
He pledged that the traditional rulers would lead with honesty, dedication, transparency, and fairness, supporting the government in its quest to deliver good governance and serve the people.
The meeting was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Awwal D. Tukur and the Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday.
