ACReSAL Takes Bold Steps For A Cleaner Taraba State

The Taraba State Office of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes, ACReSAL has presented sanitation tools and equipment to various Waste Management Community Interest Groups in the state.
The presentation was made this Monday at the premises of the Agency in Jalingo, state capital.
The Taraba State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr Clement Yakubu Giwa who made the presentation, said this is part of the deliberate efforts of the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas to maintain a clean environment.
The measure, according to him, equally aligns with the core mandate of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes ACReSAL in tackling environmental degradation and related challenges.
He assured the Community Waste Management Interest Groups that this is the beginning of ACRESAL’s support to the groups, saying the next support will be determined by the utilisation of the equipment and the resultant effects on the environment.
He commended Governor Agbu Kefas and Commissioners of Environment and Climate Change, Agriculture and Natural Resources and that of Water Resources for their support and direction, which he said have been responsible for the successes.
He stressed that the equipment and tools are also to be used for the Desilting of the drainages to pave the way for the free flow of water to prevent flooding and its attendant consequences.
Dr Clement Giwa equally spoke of the need for a clean environment free of all forms of diseases, noting that cleanliness is next to godliness.
In his remarks, the ACReSAL Environmental Safeguard Officer, Alhaji Umar Dahiru commended the Community Waste Management Interest Groups for their commitment to maintain a clean environment in the state, saying their activities have changed the general face of the state.
He said the tools and equipment are being provided to encourage them to do more for the state, saying the state government is appreciative of their contributions to a cleaner Taraba State.
He said items presented include grass cutting machines, waste evacuation motorcycles, wheel-barrows, shovels, rakes and protective equipment among others.
Responding on behalf of the Community Interest Groups, the Coordinator of Operation Keep Taraba Clean, Mr Iliya Kefas Alhaji, was full of praises for the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, the three line Commissioners, the State Project Coordinator, Dr Clement Yakubu Giwa for the kind gesture.
While promising to make judicious use of the tools and equipment, he assured that they will intensify their activities to ensure that every nook and cranny is kept clean.
Some of the cleaners interviewed, commended the government and ACReSAL for providing them with the sanitation equipment, which they believe will ease their cleaning activities.
