Clergy Expresses Worry Over Religious, Ethnic Divisions

The General Overseer of Life and Destiny Church, Pastor Skwaila Maigoge has expressed worry over the increasing division and segregation along religious and ethnic lines in the society.

Magoge made the expression in a paper presented during celebration marking Bali at fifty anniversary organized by the Chairman of Bali Local Government Council in Taraba State, Hon Habila Bala Balasa, held at Nigeria Union of Teacher’s hall, Bali.

The clergy lamented that the disunity, incoherence, religious and ethnic intolerance have become order of the day which are mostly perpetrated by people for their selfish interests.

He said in the past, there were no religious and ethnic differences in Bali Local Government Area, blaming the current challenges on the new generation for deviating from the good moral teachings of their forefathers.

The guest speaker added that in the past, it was difficult to identify the difference between a Christian and a Muslim because they carry everybody along irrespective of tribe and ethnic background, adding that they share and do everything in common.

He commended the Chairman, Hon Habila Bala Balasa for organizing such a historic event aimed at bringing sons and daughters of the Local Government Area together to celebrate as well as brainstorm on the need to work towards the progress and development of the council area.

Maigoge equally lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for prioritizing security, adding that the sustenance of peace and stability in the state is commendable.

The clergy called on youth in the area to shun all forms of acts that would create division, segregation, religious bias among others but, should be the vanguard of peace.

In his goodwill massage, the Gangwari Dakka, Yusuf Aliyu Manga described the event as milestone in the history of Bali Local Government Area.

The monarch assured the readiness of traditional rulers to continue to play their roles in maintaining peace and stability in their domains.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Bali Connect Forum, Nasiru Bala Takalafiya harped on need to promote unity and mutual understanding for development to thrive.
