Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has been commended by the State Head of Service, Mr Paul Maigida Tino, for fulfilling his promise to implement the New  Minimum Wage.

Gov Kefas

Tino, in a press release, charged the state’s civil servants to reciprocate the new rise by giving their best in service delivery, saying such a move will guarantee more of the dividends of democracy.

There was statewide jubilation on Thursday, when civil servants started receiving alerts indicating the new salaries structure.

It would be recalled that Dr. Kefas had promised to implement the new minimum wage of N70, 000 as agreed between the federal government and the organized labour movement.

Similarly, earlier in the year, Dr Kefas had upgraded the salary by ordering the implementation of the thirty thousand naira Minimum Wage which was not implemented before his assumption of office in May 2023.

The Head of Service applauded the efforts of the governor, noting that civil servants in the state have continued to contribute their quota to state building.

According to him, by implementing the N 70, 000 increase, Dr Kefas has continued to keep his promises to the state.

Meanwhile, some civil servants who spoke on the development said the increments will enhance their living standards amidst the prevailing high cost of living.

They equally noted that the governor has proven to be a believer in the dignity of labour.

While stressing the need for the government to continue working closely with workers, some of the civil servants expressed optimism in Dr Kefas’ commitment to workers’ welfare in Taraba State.
