Induction For Commissioners, Perm. Secs: Kefas lauds HOS, Tino

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has applauded the sportsmanship of the State Head of Service (HOS) Mr. Paul Maigida Tino for organizing an induction course aimed at bringing to lime light the core responsibilities of the State Commissioners and the Permanent Secretaries under his administration.

Kefas, who reiterated the need for the Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries to work in synergy to enhance the workforce of the State, described the induction course as timely adding that it’s for
effective service delivery of the State Government.
Governor Kefas spoke while declaring open a two day induction course organized by the office of the State Head of Service, for Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries of the State.
He disclosed that such an initiative was aimed at building the capacity of the State functionaries.
The Induction Course with the theme: “Leadership Imperative for Effective Service Delivery”, our Correspondent gathered, was held at the Conference Hall of SISFEN Restaurant in Jalingo the State capital where the Governor, represented by his Deputy, Alh. Aminu Abdullahi Alkali lauded the Head of Service, Paul Maigida Tino for coming up with the initiative.
He used the medium to call on the participants to use the knowledge learnt to facilitate Government policies and programmes, and assured that the state government is poised to deliver the needed dividends of democracy to the good people of the State.

While delivering a welcome and/or key note address, the Head of Service, Mr. Paul Maigida Tino said the induction course was intended to sensitize and create awareness among the key players in the service of the State Government.
Tino added that it is imperative to discharge and effectively handle administrative and technical issues of government proactively and, in order to support the administration of Governor Kefas in moving the State forward, hence the initiative of the induction course.
In an interview shortly, Mrs. Jemimah Gideon Nwunuji, Permanent Secretary, (Political affairs), Secretary to the State Government (SSG) said, “This induction course is a wake up call, it has reminded us of our duties as Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries and it has emphasized on the mandate given to us to make sure that we cooperate in order to deliver the services that is needed by the present administration”,

“It’s a way of re-enacting us to put more efforts and seriousness and promote performance in our day to day activities to promote the achievements of this administration”,
“As civil and public servants, it’s very important to abide by the rules of protocol and etiquette. This is because we are representing the society, our various constituencies, the state government, ourselves, our culture and therefore, if we don’t abide by the rules of protocol and etiquette, we will be bringing embarrassment to ourselves, to our various offices and the state”,
“The focal point is that both the Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries are working for the progress of the state government and therefore, we are expected to work together as a tool and as a team to help Governor Agbu Kefas achieve his mandate of moving the state forward”, she said.
The Resource persons of Prof. Caroline Emeka Ogbonna, Alh. Isa Hassan and Dr. Isa Mohammed presented various papers on the first day of the workshop with the themes, “Emotional intelligence, effective leadership, (Prof. Ogbonna) Time and stress management, Cordiality in the workplace, How to prepare policy memo to EXCO (Alh. Isa Hassan) Understanding protocols and etiquettes for Public Officials (Dr. Isa Mohammed)”.
The programme climaxed with contribution, question and answer sessions among the participants and facilitators.
