By Abbas Usman, Bauchi

The former Speaker of the 10th National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara Saturday expressed concern over the abandoning of the Multi-billion Naira oil exploration Project located at Kolmani between Bauchí and Gombe States, North East Nigeria.

Our Correspondent gathered that in November 2022, former Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari flagged off the Kolmani oil project at Burambu Village in Alkaleri LGA of Bauçhi state, where he explained that the oil exploration in the area had already attracted over $3 billion foreign direct investment and will boost Nigeria’s earnings, with discovery of over 1 billion barrels of oil reserves and 500 billion Cubic Feet of gas.

Yakubu Dogara, urged President Bola Ahmad Tinubu who is in his second year of his first term to revisit the issue of oil drilling in Komani Oil Well in Bauchi/Gombe States.

The former Speaker made the appeal while speaking at the commissioning of the 2.5 kilometres township road project in Zaranda town of Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State executed by the current Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba Umar.

The former Speaker also called for the construction of the Bagel dam in Dass which he believed would open up the area, create sources of employment for the population and increase revenue generation opportunities.

He explained that the two projects were vital to the growth and development of the state and the country at large.

”If done, the Bagel multipurpose Dam will generate electricity for all the LGAs in Bauchi South Senatorial District and will lead to economic activities and development in the area,” he said.

On the oil exploration, Dogara believed that if the Bauchí state joins the oil producing states of the country, there would be more revenue allocation through derivation while more revenue generation sources will be opened.

He said once these two projects are executed, the president will not need to come to Bauchi to campaign come 2027 as the people will gladly vote for him.

Dogara assured that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as an opposition in the State is not dead, stressing that those having such notion are only deceiving themselves, as the Party has more competent and charismatic individuals than PDP in the state.

“APC is still alive in Bauchi State, when the time comes, they will realize their mistakes, we will storm the State and take over government after bringing the “Rat out of the hole”. he said.

Speaking earlier, Senator Buba explained that the road project was a fulfilment of his electioneering campaigns promise ahead of the 2023 polls.

The Bauchí South Senator assured his people that more democratic dividends were underway for the electorate.

The federal lawmaker explained that he would soon embark on commissioning of some projects he executed and flag off others for the benefits of his people.

“You will recall that during my electioneering campaigns at the time of aspiring to become your senator in 2023, I pledged to relentlessly pursue meaningful and life changing projects,” Senator Buba said.

He reiterated his promise to provide basic amenities to the common good of his constituents.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman of APC in Bauchi State, Hon. Muhammad Tilde, described the road project constricted by the senator as a testament of his transformative leadership.

Tilde described the senator’s efforts as worthy of emulation and urged party members to remain united and loyal for sustainability and progress of the Party in the state.
