NAPTIP, Taraba Govt Return 10 Trafficked Children To Families

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in collaboration with the Taraba State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development has reunited the 10 trafficked minors to their biological parents in Jalingo.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Mr Bako Amos, Commander of the Taraba Command of the NAPTIP, underscored the effect of such acts.

“On Feb. 2, 2026, Mrs Mary Sinjen Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, in respect of the 10 victims of human trafficking intercepted along with their trafficker on Jan.31st , 2026, at Kurmi Park Jalingo Taraba, to be travelled to Baisa, the headquarters of Kurma local government area.

“She visited the Command with her
Permanent Secretary Mr Eric Juyo, to receive the victims and to interact with them, in order to identify the root causes of the illegitimate movement of minors out of their home of origin to an unknown destination.

” And to also identify and analyse their challenges in order to efficiently proffer lasting solution through policy development and implementation, that will assist in reducing the heinous crime of human trafficking and irregular movement of children, women and girls, to it’s bearest minimum,” she stated.

The statement further emphasized on the dangers associated with irregular movement of these categories of people in the society which is sometimes without the consent of their parents or on deception for greener pastures for their children at destination .

It also said it is only to have access to these children for their exploitative and financial gains on the victims.

The statement also called on all parents in the state to desist from this tendencies of handing over their love ones to greedy traffickers, on grounds to ease their hardship of up bringing of their children by unscrupulous traffickers at the detriment of the vulnerable Children, boys and girls.

It reiterated its commitment to victims protection and care to be able to get rid of the victims traumatic experiences of human trafficking, and reassure that it is not going to be business as usual for the traffickers in Taraba State.

It said vow that no body suspected of committing and aiding the commission of this evil crime of human trafficking will be spared if found culpable beyond reasonable doubt.

The 10 victims had been counseled and reunited with their biological parents after their interaction. with the Hon. Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development,

It will be recalled that NAPTIP intercepted a woman with 10 minors at Kurmi Park in Jalingo.(NAN)
